METAMORPHOSIS
This is the story of Anderson, a boy who had a dream …
He wanted to dance on the stage of the world.
When he was 16 he was hurt because he had dyslexia.
Yet, the love of someone who understood him helped him to regain his strength.
He became a great dancer and he came back to his school in the Garden of Hope in search of Talent.
What did he find there?
His son, Andrew is waiting for him. While Andrew waits for his father,
Mr Anderson, he sees a Male Raja Brooke Birdwing. This is the symbol of the Potential of Sarawak. A group of bullies caught a butterfly, thus trapping potential . Andrew fights to free the butterfly, thus releasing potential.
But he is attacked by the bullies. The bees save him. They are the force of good.
Andrew has a phobia for mathematics because he is confused about the symbols X and +. They haunt him in a nightmare.
The paint brush fairies chase away the phobia.
They teach Andrew to write X and + thus overcoming his phobia.
Then Andrew paints a picture of the Raja Brooke Birdwing. He write the words “Happy Birthday Father” but Alina, his friend notices
that the alphabets are reversed.
Mr Anderson arrives and sees the painting…and the message…
and realizes that Andrew also has dyslexia.
The maths teacher tells Mr Anderson that Andrew is lazy … getting zero for tests.
Yet, he can answer questions orally. Mr Anderson says that he was like his son.
“Were you lazy? Getting zero for tests?” asked the teacher.
“That was what my teachers said” answered Mr Anderson.
He tells his story…in the flashback we learn that Anderson , at 16, helped a girl named Angelina when she was a victim of a perfectionist teacher who wanted her to lose weight to win a dance contest. However, he is rejected by her father who condemns him as a hopeless case. His spirit is almost broken. But his inner self sang a song called “The Garden Of Hope” and he began to have hope again.
The Garden Of Hope.
Who read for me?
Who never forgets me when I am lost and weary?
Each time I dance, who sees my talent?
My hope is in the sky
I am a dancer in the Heart of Angelina
I am a dancer on the stage of the world
I will not forget the Garden of Hope
So the teacher decides to change himself to help Andrew. He wants to have a reader and a writer for tests for Andrew. Mr Anderson says that he can read if the paper is blue. If the paper is white, words will dance. Andrew tells his father he also has that problem. Anderson tells his son about his own problem with dyslexia. Andrew asks: “Does that mean I can succeed?” “Of course you can succeed.” Anderson tells him.
Aina thinks that the bullies may also have the same problem. Andrew asks his father to help the bullies because he does not want them to spend their time catching butterflies.
But the bullies attack Andrew again and Anderson is furious. He tells then that he had come looking for talent but……Jacky shows off his dancing skills. Reluctantly Anderson admits that Jacky is talented. He challenges Jacky to believe in himself and to pursue his destiny in the Academy For The Child Of Sarawak. The Raja Brooke Birdwing returns, symbolizing the hope for the Potential of Sarawak. The power to believe is given to Jacky and he is transformed.
